Bead Count Calculator — Beads Per Strand

Work out how many beads you need for a necklace, bracelet or strand based on length, bead size and shape.

Total finished length including clasp

Diameter of your main beads

Shape affects how much strand length each bead uses

Spacer bead or gap between each bead (0 if none)

Length taken up by clasp, jump rings and crimp covers

Single strand or multi-strand design

Cost per bead for total estimate

How We Calculate This

The calculator subtracts clasp length from the total strand length to get usable stringing length, then accounts for bead shape, spacers and knotting.

The formula

Effective bead length = Bead diameter x Shape multiplier

Beads = floor(Usable length / (Effective bead length + Spacer + Knot allowance))

Shape multipliers: Round 1.0, Rondelle 0.6, Oval 1.2, Bicone 0.8, Tube 1.5
