What is blank length for ring making?

The blank length is the length of flat metal strip you need to cut before forming it into a ring. It accounts for the ring circumference, wall thickness and metal stretch factor. Different metals stretch different amounts when formed.

Does ring width affect sizing?

Yes. Wide bands (over 6mm) fit more snugly, so size up by half to one full size for comfort. This calculator accounts for width when estimating metal weight but sizing up is a manual decision based on comfort preference.

How much does a ring weigh?

Ring weight depends on the metal, ring size, width and wall thickness. A standard 3mm sterling silver band in size L weighs approximately 2-3g. Gold is heavier and platinum heavier still. This calculator gives an estimate based on your parameters.
