How We Calculate This
How the Calculation Works
Each knot type creates a different-sized knot depending on cord thickness. The calculator estimates knot dimensions as a multiple of cord thickness:
Square knots: width = cord x 3, height = cord x 2.5. Spiral: width = cord x 2.5, height = cord x 1.5. Half hitch: width = cord x 2, height = cord x 1.2.
The project area is divided by knot dimensions to estimate total knots. Cord consumption per knot is then calculated based on knot type.
