How much pigment should I add to resin?

The general rule is 2-6% of the resin weight. Mica powder at 3-4% gives a good medium colour. Liquid pigments are more concentrated so use 2-4%. Start with less and add more - you can always add but cannot remove.

Can I add too much pigment?

Yes. Exceeding 8-10% pigment can interfere with curing. The resin may remain soft, tacky, or fail to cure fully. More pigment does not always mean darker colour - it can make the resin opaque instead.

What is the difference between mica and liquid pigment?

Mica powder creates a pearlescent, shimmery finish. Liquid pigments give solid, uniform colour. Alcohol inks create translucent, swirling effects. Each gives a very different look in the finished piece.

When do I add pigment?

Add pigment to the resin (Part A) before mixing in the hardener. Mix the pigment thoroughly into the resin first, then add hardener and mix again. This ensures even colour distribution.

Mica powder: 2-6% | Liquid pigment: 2-5% | Alcohol ink: 1-3% | Pigment paste: 3-8%

Light intensity uses the lower end, medium uses the midpoint, and heavy uses the upper end of each range.
