How We Calculate This
How it works
This calculator uses IFRA (International Fragrance Association) maximum usage rates for rinse-off products as a baseline, then adjusts for product type.
Safe amount = Oil weight × Safe percentage / 100
The recommended (safe) percentage is set at 75% of the IFRA maximum to provide a safety margin. The maximum shown is the full IFRA rate for the product category.
- Body soap: full IFRA rate
- Hand soap: 90% of IFRA rate
- Shampoo bar: 80% of IFRA rate
- Facial soap: 50% of IFRA rate
